Why I Use PhoneSoap

Cleaning my phoneOur phones are covered in germs. We put them on surfaces that may not have been sanitized for days or weeks; desks, counters, tables, and into purses (when was the last time you sanitized your purse?). In fact, our phones have more germs than a toilet seat;* up to 18x dirtier, depending on the phone and the toilet seat.

That is gross enough but, with COVID-19 on the loose, this goes from gag-worthy to alarming. Maybe you wash your hands thoroughly after using the toilet but then you pick up your phone?  Maybe someone incubating the virus touched the counter yesterday where you’ve just placed your phone. You just can’t know. And the idea of having germy phones around my family? That got me looking for an easy, safe, effective cleaning solution.

The bright UV-C light Phonesoap uses kills viruses and bacteria on any phone safely and quickly. Put a phone inside, close the lid and the PhoneSoap UV light cleaner goes to work. Mirrors reflect the UV light into all openings in your phone to get every nook and cranny. Ten minutes later, the light switches off and the phone is disinfected.

PhoneSoap cleans more than just phones, too. I’ve UV’d my ear cords, Fitbit, and credit cards.

What’s the life of the bulbs used? This is what the company says: “The lightbulbs we use in our products have a lifespan of 4,000 hours – which is 240,000 minutes! That means you can use your PhoneSoap 3 about 24,000 times before the bulbs burn out.”

Now that I clean them, I am confident that the phones coming into my home are not posing a health risk and that is reassuring.

This is the one I purchased and there are others, too.
